Overview
San Fernando's cathedral began in 1754 as a wooden church with a thatched roof. In October 1898 General Emilio Aguinaldo reviewed the revolutionary army here; in 1899 forces under General Antonio Luna burned it. The neoclassical church that replaced it burned again in 1939 and was rebuilt in 1948 by Kapampangan architect Fernando Ocampo, then restored in 2014.
It faces City Hall in Barangay Santo Rosario, at the edge of the heritage district.
