Overview
Palakol Summer Place is the town's river playground on the Gumain River, which locals call the Palakol River, in Barangay San Jose. The access road passes under the tall SCTEX Gumain Bridge. Downstream the riverbed is full of boulders; upstream the water pools and deepens, and families rent huts along the banks.
The municipality opens the area from 6am to 6pm and closes it when heavy rain raises the water and the current. Visitors are asked to bring their trash home and follow the on-site rescuers.
How to get there
About 8 km from the town proper, passing Basa Air Base; the access road runs under the SCTEX Gumain Bridge.
