Overview
Downtown San Fernando has a historic district of 32 buildings and structures from the Spanish and American periods, some sadly damaged by neglect. The best-preserved stretch is two blocks of Consunji Street in Barangay Santo Rosario, near the cathedral. Among the houses is Casa Nicolasa, built in the Spanish era by Gobernadorcillo Saturnino Henson; Nicolasa Panlilio, who later lived there, nursed wounded soldiers during the Philippine-American War.
