Overview

The old San Fernando station opened on February 23, 1892, on the Manila to Dagupan line, and Jose Rizal passed through it that year on his way to Bacolor to recruit friends for La Liga Filipina. In April 1942 it was the end point of the 102-kilometre Bataan Death March, where surrendered Filipino and American soldiers were loaded onto trains bound for Capas.

Rail service stopped in 1988, but the station has been restored and keeps a wooden boxcar of the kind used on those death trains. It now houses a tourism office and a museum on the Death March.
