Overview
Augustinian friars built the first church here in 1576. On September 3, 1995, lahar from Mount Pinatubo buried it to half of its 12-metre height. Residents dug out and restored the altars and retablo, and the church remains in use: visitors now enter through what were once its second-floor windows.
Beside the facade, the Museo de Bacolor (Recuerdos Sagrados de Bacolor) keeps sacred memorabilia and paintings of the 1991 eruption.
