Overview
The Caragan Festival honours Caragan, the Aeta chieftain who, according to oral tradition, founded Mabalacat with his wife, Laureana Tolentino. It is part of the month-long celebration of the city fiesta, whose feast day is February 2. School groups perform cultural dances in costumes made of indigenous materials, and the parade highlights Aeta traditions.
Sources place the main festivities between the first and fourth week of February; the 2027 schedule has not been announced.
