The Sasmuan Pampanga Coastal Wetlands cover about 3,667 hectares of coastal water, mangroves, mudflats and river along Manila Bay. In 2021 they were recognised as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention.

Not a park, a workplace

The wetland supports migratory birds but also fishing, crab gathering and aquaculture. Families depend on it, and parts are sensitive habitat. Access depends on tides, weather, boats and conservation rules.

Before you go

No current official page lists daily hours, tour prices or walk-in access. Contact the Municipality of Sasmuan, its tourism office or the local environment office and ask:

  • whether organised visits are available and where to meet;
  • how boats and guides are arranged, and what they cost;
  • how long the trip takes, the weather policy and what safety equipment is provided.

On the water

  • Use an authorised boat and local guide.
  • Keep your distance from birds and do not chase them for photos.
  • Take all rubbish home.
  • Respect the fishers and crab gatherers at work.
