Candaba Public Market
Market for Candaba's freshwater fish, prawns, lotus stalks, buro and salted duck eggs, with fried quail in the afternoon.
✓ Reviewed by our editors
Overview
Freshwater fish are Candaba's big product, and the public market is where to find them: tilapia, mudfish (bulig), native and African catfish, kanduli, carp and gourami, plus freshwater prawns and, sometimes, lotus stalks. Look for buro, the fermented rice and fish, and ebun buru, salted duck eggs that are milder than most. In the afternoon one stall sells ready-to-eat fried quail.
