Macabebe Day and Santero Festival 2027

Macabebe's founding day, with a street dance that acts out the making of a saint's statue and the La Jota Cabea folk dance.

Overview

Macabebe Day marks the town's founding and its nameless hero of the 1571 Battle of Bangkusay. Since 2019 it has been held on June 3, the date of the battle, instead of the old January 17.

The celebration includes the Santero Festival street dance, launched in 2018, in which school groups turn each stage of statue-making into dance steps, ending in the pose of a saint. The La Jota Cabea folk dance draws on the town's military heritage.
