Overview

Every Good Friday, Barangay San Pedro Cutud in San Fernando stages a street re-enactment of the Passion and death of Christ, based on a script written in 1955, ending with penitents being nailed to crosses, a practice held here since 1962. The rites draw tens of thousands of local and foreign spectators, while Church leaders encourage quieter Holy Week devotions. Since 2015, foreigners may watch but not take part.
