1. The cathedral

Begin at the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Fernando, facing City Hall. Founded in 1754, burned in 1899 and 1939, it was rebuilt by Fernando Ocampo.

2. Consunji Street

Walk the two blocks of the San Fernando Heritage District, lined with colonial mansions. Look for Casa Nicolasa, where Nicolasa Panlilio nursed wounded soldiers during the Philippine-American War; a monument to her stands beside the house.

3. The station

Continue to the restored San Fernando Train Station, opened in 1892. Rizal passed through it, and it was the end of the Bataan Death March in 1942. See the preserved wooden boxcar.

4. The capitol

If you have energy left, head to Capitol Boulevard for the Provincial Capitol and the shade of Arnedo Park.

5. Sweets

Finish with Kapampangan sweets at Mareng Cely Pasalubong Center near Baluyut Bridge, or lunch at Everybody's Café.
