Macabebe lies on the Pampanga River delta in the south of the province, about 17 km from San Fernando and 61 km from Manila.
By car
The main way in is a two-lane highway that leaves MacArthur Highway in downtown Apalit and runs south to Macabebe and on to Masantol. From Manila, the nearest North Luzon Expressway exits are San Simon and Pulilan. Secondary roads also come in from Calumpit and Hagonoy in Bulacan and from Minalin.
By public transport
Jeepneys and minibuses link Macabebe with San Fernando; the terminal is in front of Macabebe Church. First North Luzon Transit runs a daily bus between Cubao and Masantol, with a terminal on the Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road in Barangay Santa Rita, Macabebe.
Getting around
Tricycles connect the barangays. Some western and southern areas are reached by boat.
Floods and tides
Macabebe floods in the rainy season, especially when storms coincide with high tide in Manila Bay, and boats are sometimes needed even downtown. If you have to wade through floodwater, see a doctor about leptospirosis prevention. Be considerate when talking about the floods: residents have lived with them for years.
