Lily Hill is not very high, only 32 metres, but it is the highest point in the Clark area. Its name is an anglicised form of lili, an Aeta word meaning lost.
A lookout
American soldiers used the hill as an outpost, and during the Second World War so did the Japanese.
A shrine for peace
In 1998 the Goddess of Peace Shrine was set up on the hill, a large statue with a plaque in English and Japanese. It joined the other reminders of Clark's military past, from the gateposts of Fort Stotsenburg to the Clark Veterans Cemetery.
For more of that history, visit the Clark Museum and 4D Theater and the Clark Parade Grounds.
